Everything you need to know about Flexsim's eSIM

eSIM with Flexsim
For nearly 20 years, the classic SIM card served us well—now it’s time for its successor. With Flexsim, switch to eSIM the simple way.

What is an eSIM?
Over the decades, physical SIM cards have kept shrinking—from the first formats almost the size of a bank card to today’s nano SIM, about the size of a fingernail.
In reality, it’s the plastic around the chip that disappears. The chip itself stores the secure data required to connect your smartphone or tablet to the mobile network.
What if that chip were built directly into the device? Welcome to eSIM! https://flexsim.store/

How does an eSIM work?
An Embedded SIM is a SIM that’s integrated into a smartphone or tablet, soldered to the motherboard and non-removable. The chip measures roughly 6 mm × 5 mm, about half the size of a standard nano SIM.

What changes (and what doesn’t) for you

What changes:

- No need to insert a physical SIM to make calls or use mobile data (4G/5G where available).

- Activation works differently: scan a QR code or enter an activation code.

- You can install multiple eSIM profiles (e.g., personal/work or multi-country), with typically one active profile at a time.

- No more entering a PIN to unlock your Flexsim eSIM.

What stays the same:

- You keep the same functions as with a physical SIM: internet, mobile data .

- You can keep your current number and add a Flexsim eSIM alongside your main line.

Save mobile data when travelling across the world
When you travel outside your data usage can get expensive.

With an eSIM, you can keep using your number while combining it with local data to go online.

Keep this in mind when travelling to the United States, Asia, Australia or Africa…
…or even Switzerland and the United Kingdom! We are in more than https://flexsim.store/collections/local-esim200 countries

Do your bit for the environment
We crunched the numbers. On a yearly basis, Orange issues nearly 2 million new SIM cards. That’s huge. eSIM is also good for the planet:

  • less plastic used to manufacture cards
  • simpler and more eco-friendly activation

Note that we’re also doubling down on efforts to make current Orange SIM cards more eco-friendly: since August 2020, we have reduced by 50% the size of the plastic holder that contains the SIM. Thanks to this Half-ID SIM card, we will use 2 tonnes less plastic every year.
